Junior Strings Ensemble

The Pacifica Ukes Junior Strings Program was established in the fall of 2012. This is the youngest of the Pacifica Ukes performing ensembles, and the entry point into the program. The Junior Strings Program is open to any student aged 9-12 (Grade 4-6 level) in Campbell River area. No experience is necessary for entry into the ensemble. Students just need to have a desire to learn.

They are introduced to playing the ukulele in a group setting where note reading, musicianship, playing skills, and singing will be taught. If a student doesn’t own an instrument, we can try to arrange for one to be borrowed temporarily. The Pacifica Ukes program has a very limited number of older instruments to loan as well. The Junior Strings students perform at local retirement homes and at select schools in the area. The programs runs from October to early May, culminating in a short mini-tour in Campbell River. Many students from this group will elect to move on to be a part of the Junior “A" ensemble.
