Meet Our Directors
Music Director Vince Sequeira has been directing the Pacifica Ukes ensembles the past 29 years and taught music in the public school system for over 32 years. He currently directs several music ensembles in the Campbell River area where he has been teaching and enriching the lives of students since 1979. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Victoria and has taught band, choir, ukulele, and general music at numerous schools in Campbell River before retiring in 2011.
Drawing from his Portuguese / Philippine heritage, Vince has naturally taken to the ukulele and its unlimited potential as a vehicle for music instruction to young children. Much of his personality and musical heritage are reflected in his choice of music and his own compositions for the group. Over the years many students have benefited from their association with the Pacifica Ukes.
Assistant Director Charlene Sequeira received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Victoria and taught for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2015. She is an experienced classroom and music teacher and currently directs the Pacifica Ukes Junior Strings group in Campbell River. She has been assistant director with the Pacifica Ukes for the past 28 years and is currently President of the Pacific Ukulele Association.
Together with husband Vince, they continue to build the successful Pacifica Ukes program in Campbell River.
